Inspired by a visit with my buddy Michael Valade I talk about some of that initial spark that we generally get in adolescence and how to rekindle that and not take it for granted if your going through that currently. Some Strategies I explore to combat that... - Always be learning - Look at examples of people capturing that initial fire - Be Bold - Step out into uncharted territory aka be a leader - See failure as steps not stopping points - Don't take your inspiration, energy, and opportunity for granted - No matter what you do you have to work hard so you might as well pursue your passion! In this episode I have a pretty large update since the last couple episodes have been interviews and then I dig into the question of wether or not this Art thing we participate in is at it's essence a selfish act. I feel this topic is pretty open and there is much more discussion that can revolve around it than I briefly explored so I open it up to you. Do you think the act of creating art is a selfish act? Why or why not? Please feel free to comment below if you have any thoughts on the matter! I certainly hope you enjoy and gain something from listening! The main topic is in response to some stuff I recently read in 'The War of Art' by Steven Pressfield. I really enjoyed this book and think there are more than a few tips that can help set us artist's free to pursue the creative path set before us! Want to be on the show? I tend to go with my first idea for an image instead of thumbnailing many ideas and having the client involved in decision of which idea to go with. Also I announce the new project I'm working on which will be a solo album over my boy Engleburt's beats titled "match made in human" . I discuss my process on writing and how it relates with art and also some thoughts on possibly using Kickstarter to fund it. Want to be on the show?
